LAS VEGAS, APRIL 17, 2015 — Video Devices — mission-critical video products by Sound Devices, is pleased to announce that its PIX-E5 has garnered both a Videomaker “Best of NAB 2015” award and a ProHUB “2015 Award of Excellence” from ProductionHUB.
The PIX-E5, one of three new PIX-Es the company previewed at the show, is a 1920×1080, five-inch LCD monitor with a full suite of precision-monitoring tools. It features 3G-SDI and HDMI I/O, plus the ability to record 4K and Apple ProRes 4444 XQ edit-ready files to affordable mSATA-based USB 3.0 SpeedDrives. Weighing only one pound, the PIX-E5, along with its sister unit, the PIX–E5H, are presently the world’s most compact 4K recording monitors. Both have easy-to-access tactile buttons and an intuitive touch screen interface. The PIX-E5 also comes standard with eight audio channels.
As with all of the PIX-Es, the PIX-E5 includes PIX-Assist™, an impressive suite of monitoring tools, including a TapZoom™ function for unrivalled focusing speed, false colors and zebras to help set exposure, guide markers for framing and LUTs, as well as a range of scopes, such as waveform monitor, histogram and vectorscope. The entire PIX-E line, which also includes the PIX-E7 a 7-inch model, features compact, die-cast metal housings and an LCD display protected by Gorilla® Glass 2. This road-ready design makes the PIX-Es ideal for professional cinematographers and videographers seeking monitors that can stand up to the rigors of the most extreme and demanding production environments.
Videomaker presents its ‘Best of NAB’ Awards annually to the best company or product in each of 10 categories, such as Best Computer Monitor, Best Microphone and Best Drone. This year, the PIX-E5 is joined by brands such as Manfrotto, Sennheiser, and Hewlett Packard.
The ProHUB Awards of Excellence recognize the innovation in technology and practice from the NAB Show Floor using expert opinions from industry icons, direct feedback from attendees at the show and assessment by the ProductionHUB leadership team.
