Rivierenland has been searching for the right video content system, which finally led them to our partner’s medical content archive solution which was based on the customizable Metus software.

Patient selection via HL7 Integration before recording Remote control by using the scope of a foot pedal Setting marker (timecode metadata) for critical views during recording and transferring the marked fragment to the patient’s medical file Adjustable archiving period Easy web browser access to recorded images

Solution
Dutch hospital Rivierenland expanded its OR recording capacity from 2 to 7 operating theatres. By using the medical archiving system which is based on Metus software, the medical doctors now will be able to make patient specific surgical recordings. These recordings are meant to complete the image report in the patient’s digital medical file, through which the hospital is compliant with the obligation to gather ‘critical views’ of a surgery. The operation assistant selects the patient on a touch panel. Then the surgeon controls system with the buttons on the scope. The functions to his or her disposal are: start / stop recording make snapshot set markers (timecode metadata) By setting markers the surgeon selects the critical view, the fragment that will be transferred into PACS.
The complete recordings will be kept in the central server and can be accessed directly. In this case we configured the Metus software in a way that the complete files are automatically erased from the server after a set period.

Benefits
Saves a significant amount of time thanks to automated integration with patient file Allows doctors to control the recording Allows to record only the necessary portion when needed with markers Can configure the Metus software in a way that the complete files are automatically erased from the medical server after a set period Easy web browser access to recorded images
